LA-based band, The Black Eyed Peas
were initially formed by
vocalist and multi
instrumentalist
Will.i.am , and vocalists
Apl.de.ap and Taboo.

When they moved away from their early
hip-hop sounds towards more commercial
pop with 2003's Elephunk that's when they

achieved Worldwide fame
.



It all started back in 1988 when the trio
originally got together as the Atban Klann.
They then took the name Black Eyed Peas
In 1995 as their music was branded
‘food for the soul’.

The band had moderate success with
their debut 'Behind the Front' and also
its follow up 'Bridging the Gap', which
featured De La Soul and Macy Gray .






Fergie , the ex Wild Orchid member ,
joined the Black Eyed Peas in 2003 for
Elephunk, which was an instant worldwide,
success selling over six million copies.



The singles from the album,which
included
“Shut Up”, “Hey Mama”,
and
“Where is the Love” featuring
Justin Timberlake, were massive hits
across the globe.


There success continued with there
2005's ' Monkey Business', that was
to feature the Grammy winning song ,
“Don’t Phunk With My Heart” and
“My Humps”, which generated a lot of
controversy due to the sexual nature
of the lyrics. Nevertheless it was still
an international smash hit in the charts.



The band started The Peapod Foundation ,
a charity
that supports a variety of good
causes.
They spent 2006 and 2007 touring
the world to raise awareness and the profile
of the Peapod Foundation .

There success continues with there new
album ," THE END " ( ENERGY NEVER DIES )
whch is currently available from Amazon.
They have currently sold an estimated 23
million albums worldwide and 29 million
singles worldwide.
